The Consumerchoice study published
A study, entitled CONSUMERCHOICE: Do European Consumers buy Genetically Modified (GM) foods? published today explores to what extent consumers buy GM-labelled products. The purpose of the project was to observe and analyse the behaviour of European consumers in ten different countries. The study shows that although the number and range of GM-labelled product is limited, where they are available, consumers do buy them. The focus group discussions revealed that the overall awareness of GM-products and labels was very low and participants experienced a lack of information about GM-issues.

The findings of the study will be presented on Tuesday, October 14th, 2008.
