Support activities for the development of baseline data and methodology for reporting requirements for biofuel

The purpose of this project is to assess the effects of the EU biofuel policy in a set of countries with a potential to provide the EU with significant amounts of biofuels, including for example effects on GHG emissions, land-use and socio-economics. Also, baseline data for biofuels for the year 2008 and reporting mechanisms for biofuel producers, member states and the European Commission is developed. The project consortium consists of Ecofys (project management), Chalmers, Winrock, Agra CEAS and IIASA.

CSPR's part of the project has been to assess different carbon forestry project types in developing countries that exported biofuels to EU in 2008. The project types that have been assessed are Clean Development Mechanisms (CDM), Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+) and Voluntary Emission Reductions (VERs)
