About CSPR

Inaugurated in 2004, the CSPR has rapidly established itself as a prominent reference point for studies related to climate science and policy research. Its interdisciplinary character attracts researchers from various backgrounds and institutions and who share an interest in climate change research that is practically applicable yet academically robust. Research topics revolve around mitigation and adaptation to a changing world climate, in Sweden and internationally, as well as the use of natural resources and sustainable development.

CSPR was set up as a joint venture between Linköping University and the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI), and is formally hosted by the Department of Thematic Studies at Linköping University.

Mission

The CSPR’s mission is to develop knowledge, templates and methods for climate research in Sweden and abroad. In order to do this, the CSPR gathers researchers in the natural sciences, social sciences, humanities and technology. The four key research areas are:

  • Vulnerability and adaptation
  • Climate change and sustainable development
  • Conditions for low-carbon energy
  • Knowledge and communication
